For art of the Nation there is always Te Papa Tongarewa and their new long-term exhibition Toi Te Papa – Art of the Nation an ambitious display of a large portion of the Te Papa art collection. With a rotation system in place for many of the works, it is a great exhibition to visit to experience some of New Zealand’s artistic treasures. The rest of Te Papa is also a great place to visit for the rest of the Museum treasures housed within this modern building.
For the latest Contemporary art offerings there is always City Gallery Wellington. Exhibitions change every three months and since the gallery doesn’t have a collection, you can expect each exhibition to have something unique and dynamic about it. There is often a mix of internation, national and local art to be seen so check out the website and find out what the latest is.
